The depth changes how the mattress feels rather than how firm it is. There is simply more foam between you and the base, which softens the initial contact and makes the surface feel more forgiving from the moment you lie down. It also fills a deeper bed frame properly - a shallow mattress in a high-sided divan or ottoman can leave the sides looking sunken.

Visco-elastic memory foam responds to body heat and moulds to your shape, supporting the spine and neck and spreading your weight so pressure points stop waking you. A denser layer beneath keeps you level, and because the foam absorbs movement rather than passing it across the bed, you are far less likely to be woken when your partner turns over.

Its open-cell structure lets air circulate freely rather than trapping heat, and the foam is dust mite and mildew resistant - worth knowing if you suffer with asthma or allergies.

Your mattress is delivered rolled and boxed, which makes it far easier to carry up stairs and through narrow doorways than a conventional mattress. Please open it within 72 hours of delivery. Take it out of the box and unwrap it fully so it can unroll - do not use anything sharp to cut it open. Once unrolled, allow 48 to 72 hours in a well-heated, well-ventilated room for it to expand to full size and for the natural foam odour to clear.
